Family-run since 1985

A Yorkshire mill with a worldwide reach.

Peter Jackson & Sons Ltd was formed in 1985 in the village of Barkisland, in the heart of West Yorkshire — and has grown into one of the UK's leading names in heavyweight pile fabric.

Our story

Built on attention to detail.

From Bowers Mill, we've spent four decades building our name and reputation within the industry — becoming the name associated with quality manufacturing and supply of high-pile knitted fabrics.

That reputation was earned the slow way: consistently high standards, close attention to detail, and a willingness to work with customers on exactly what they need rather than only what's on the shelf. Today our fabrics are supplied nationwide and exported to over 40 countries around the world — with more than 500,000 square metres of veterinary bedding alone leaving the mill each year.

For generations Yorkshire has been the heart of British wool — its mills, waters and skilled hands shaped textile standards across Europe. Our expertise isn't imported or recreated elsewhere: it is inherited, practised and refined in the same landscape that has shaped British wool for centuries.

Our veterinary bedding range is the clearest proof of that approach — through care in how these products are made, Jackson Textiles has become the market leader in the category.

How we work

From fibre to finished fabric.

A fully integrated process under one roof at Bowers Mill — every stage controlled in-house, from fibre selection to finished fabric.

01 — Fibre selection

The right fibre, chosen with you

100% British wool in two grades, or recycled synthetic fibre — selected in collaboration with the customer and prepared for its end use, including domestic washing.

02 — Carding

Cut and carded to spec

Fibres cut to bespoke lengths and carded on re-configured machinery, adapted to the performance, handle and structure the final application demands.

03 — Knitting

Knitted in-house

Fabric knitted by skilled operatives, with structure and tension adjusted to each customer's requirements for consistent, premium quality.

04 — Shearing

Precise pile height

In-house shearing gives exact control over pile height, refined to meet defined comfort, performance and aesthetic expectations.

05 — Tumbling

Texture where it's wanted

Controlled tumbling, guided by experience and applied only where required — developing texture and sherpa-style effects aligned with the end use.

06 — Backing

Bespoke backings

Backings developed specifically for each product, ensuring stability, durability and performance without compromising fibre integrity.
