Upholstery, interiors and other applications

Durable, tactile surfaces beyond the five core sectors.

The same high-pile, sliver-knitted constructions used in bedding, equine and aerospace work are developed for statement upholstery, soft interiors and technical applications where softness, warmth, texture or cushioning are the requirement.

Upholstery and interiors

Statement surfaces, made to brief.

Pile height, density, fibre, colour, pattern and backing are selected around the finished piece and its conversion route. Backings are developed for sewing, lamination and dimensional stability; finishes range from controlled shearing to tumbled, sherpa-style textures.

The Apparel and Luxury guide covers the relevant constructions, colour development and sampling route.

Medical and technical

Other technical developments.

Dense-pile constructions are also developed for specialist technical uses on a case-by-case basis, against an application brief and the testing it requires. Where application testing belongs to the converter, brand, design authority or finished-product manufacturer, that responsibility is stated at the outset.

  • British wool, polyester PET and technical blends
  • Constructions up to 3 kg per linear metre, subject to specification
  • Application-specific backing systems
  • Sample-led development at accessible volumes

Describe the application and we will tell you if it is feasible.

End use, contact points, performance targets, conversion method and volumes are enough to start.
